Tottenham are now interested in hiring Johannes Spors as their new Director of Football after Fabio Paratici left.
The Italian departed Spurs after FIFA upheld his 30-month ban from football, which he was given after being found guilty of false accounting during his time at Juventus.
Now, Daniel Levy has identified a potential replacement.
What’s the story?
Well – according to Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany – Tottenham are looking at Spors.
The 40-year-old was the subject of contact from Spurs in the past few weeks, although advanced negotiations are yet to take place.
Spors currently works as Global Sporting Director for a range of clubs, including Hertha Berlin, Genoa, Standard Liege & Melbourne Victory.
Plettenburg does not mention whether the German would give up his role at these clubs if he agreed to join Tottenham.
Johannes Spors could thrive at Tottenham
In our view, Spors could be a great appointment by Spurs – especially if they hire his fellow countryman Julian Nagelsmann.
Spors has previously played a key role in turning RB Leipzig into a genuine force across Europe.
The German helped lure the likes of Timo Werner and Dayot Upamecano to RB Leipzig for bargain fees, with both developing into huge success stories for the Bundesliga side.

Werner was eventually sold to Chelsea for £45m after scoring 93 goals and providing 40 assists in 157 appearances, having cost just £9m in a deal from VfB Stuttgart.
In regards to Upamecano, the Frenchman was poached by Bayern Munich in a £39m deal after arriving from RB Salzburg for just £9m as well, so Spors certainly has an eye for talent.
A return of £84m from £18m worth of investments is great business, to say the least.
Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as Tottenham continue their hunt for a new manager as well as a new Director of Football.
