Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman with contact now ongoing.

Napoli could now face a battle with Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Wolves centre back Max Kilman.

That is according to a new report from Tuttomercatoweb, who claim that Tottenham are emerging as a real destination for Kilman.

It’s stated that Kilman’s priority is to stay in the Premier League and a number of clubs are interested.

Tottenham are at the front of the queue though and are ‘carrying on the closest contacts’ for his signature.

Napoli made a first offer for Kilman a few days ago, identifying the Wolves star as a replacement for Kim Min-jae.

A €35million (£30million) offer was rejected with Wolves holding out for around €40million (£34million).

Napoli aren’t far away from a deal now but have yet to return with a new offer – leaving the door open for Tottenham to potentially swoop in.

Max Kilman could be Micky van de Ven alternative for Tottenham

Kilman – hailed as ‘amazing’ by teammate Jose Sa – has impressed in the Premier League and it’s no surprise that Tottenham are now interested.

Spurs are in the market for a left-footed centre back this summer and Kilman can fill that role.

Micky van de Ven has been Tottenham’s top target so far with Spurs chasing a deal to sign the Wolfsburg star.

Kilman fits the bill as a huge 6ft 4in defender, just like Van de Ven.

The pair will cost similar prices, so this comes down to Premier League experience in Kilman or a higher potential – and higher-risk – player in Van de Ven.

We would be minded to go for Van de Ven, whose pace and ability on the ball seems perfect for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play.

Kilman is an appealing option if that deal can’t be done though, and Spurs may well push Npaoli for his signature.
