Tottenham Hotspur are firmly in the hunt for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga after a move to Paris Saint-Germain was ruled out.

Gabri Veiga is attracting major Premier League interest again with Tottenham Hotspur chasing him.

That is according to a report from Le10 Sport in France, who claim that Veiga will not be joining Paris Saint-Germain.

Rumours recently suggested that PSG were closing in on landing Veiga for their new Spanish boss Luis Enrique.

However, it’s suggested that Veiga will not be joining PSG this summer and he could head to the Premier League.

It’s suggested that three English clubs are now fighting for Veiga – Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

This comes after The Guardian reported in June that Mauricio Pochettino was asking Chelsea to go for Veiga.

Veiga’s agent Pini Zahavi is working on a deal to move the Spaniard on and England is a likely destination.

Gabri Veiga could suit Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham

Spurs are moving in a different direction this summer, ditching the fairly conservative 3-4-3 setup under Antonio Conte.

In comes Ange Postecoglou, who wants to play attacking football and entertain fans.

The arrival of James Maddison sums up the new Tottenham and there is room for another midfielder.

Rodrigo Bentancur won’t be back from injury for a while yet and Giovani Lo Celso is likely to move on.

Adding another goal threat who can get on the ball and make an impact in the final third – just as Reo Hatate did at Celtic – would be ideal.

Veiga certainly showed the goalscoring side of his game last season, bagging 11 goals in 36 games for Celta Vigo.

The 21-year-old has been hailed as ‘spectacular’ by Spain Under-21 boss Santi Denia, and he could be a star of the Spurs midfield for years to come.

Pini Zahavi could be vital for Tottenham

One of the key figures here is agent Zahavi.

The 79-year-old agent also represents Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and recently brokered a deal for Spurs.

Tottenham have snapped up Israeli winger Manor Solomon with Fabrizio Romano claiming that Zahavi completed the deal.

Spurs seem to have a good rapport with Zahavi, who also brokered Jose Mourinho’s 2019 move to Tottenham.

That relationship could be vital for Tottenham in their pursuit of Veiga, possible giving them an edge in the race.
