Tottenham were the subject of an online question to Felix regarding whether he’d contemplate playing for Spurs during his career.
Portugal international Joao Felix has left the door open on a move to Tottenham Hotspur during his career after being asked the question online, according to Bleacher Report.
The 19-year-old attacker became the second most expensive teenager of all time – behind Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe – this summer by joining Atletico Madrid from Benfica for a club-record fee of £113million (€126million).
With Felix having only just made the move, signing a seven-year contract that commits him to the Wanda Metropolitano until June 2026, any questions about his future will obviously be purely hypothetical at this stage, but it does suggest that Spurs are held in high regard.
During an Ask Me Anything session with Bleacher Report, Felix was asked which of the other European leagues he’d like to play in, and he replied by saying: “Premier League.”
The youngster was then asked if he would ever contemplate a move to Tottenham, to which his response was: “Me, to Spurs? Now that’s impossible, but I don’t know (maybe) one day.”
Felix was linked with Manchester City, Manchester United (The Express) and Liverpool (Daily Mirror) over the summer, and when asked about his eventual club choice, he said he “had a feel” of other teams but “preferred Atletico”.
The youngster burst onto the scene and became a reported target for Europe’s elite clubs after impressing last season with 20 goals and 11 assists in 43 competitive matches for Benfica (Transfermarkt), and earning a call-up to the Portugal squad, who won the inaugural Nations League finals.
At Atletico, Felix will be turning out under Diego Simeone, who, during his playing career, was a teammate of current Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino in the Argentina national squad, including at the 2002 World Cup.
