Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with the Manchester United player but that ship has surely sailed.
According to the Express, Tottenham Hotspur are considering another attempt to sign Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin in January, having failed in a bid to sign the Frenchman during the summer.
But for all Schneiderlin’s qualities, Spurs no longer need him, with their midfield looking as healthy and well-stocked as it has in years.
Victor Wanyama has emerged as one of the signings of the summer after a string of superb performances for Tottenham, while Mousa Dembele is the glue that holds everything together for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
When you also factor in the presence of Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen and Moussa Sissoko and consider the emergence of Harry Winks and Josh Onomah, where on earth would Schneiderlin fit in?
If Tottenham were struggling in that area of the field, the overlooked Manchester United man would be the perfect addition, but they are not.
In fact they are well stocked nearly all over the pitch, with only the striking area still in need of strengthening given the ongoing struggles of Vincent Janssen.
Schneiderlin was once the answer for Tottenham, but not anymore.
