Tottenham and Newcastle want Stefan de Vrij and have now made contact with his representatives about a potential deal in 2023.
The summer transfer window closing wasn’t even a month ago but eyes are already been cast towards the two windows next year.
The really attractive players right now will be those whose contracts expire at the end of the season.
Cheap January deals could be in the pipeline, or possibly even pre-contract agreements, which we don’t see all that often – no matter what happens on FIFA or Football Manager!

Tottenham and Newcastle want Stefan de Vrij
One of the names that will be in that mix is Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij.
The Dutchman is out of contract at the end of the season and currently looks likely to leave the San Siro.
Whether Inter could be tempted into selling in January remains to be seen, but De Vrij seems to be heading for the exit.
It now seems that the Premier League could be De Vrij’s next destination with two clubs interested in signing him.
L’Interista in Italy report that both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with De Vrij’s agents to see if a 2023 move is possible.
It’s added that Antonio Conte is a keen admirer of De Vrij having coached him at Inter.
This very much feels like Tottenham’s move to sign Ivan Perisic on a free transfer from Inter this past summer.
Perisic’s contract was running down too, and he was tempted by the prospect of working alongside Conte once again.
De Vrij is now in a similar boat and Tottenham may be willing to strike a cheap deal – or wait until De Vrij is a free agent.
The 30-year-old has been a proven quality defender in Italy for years now having excelled for Lazio before joining Inter in 2018.
Tottenham may be the favourites here given the links to Conte, but Newcastle cannot be ignored.
Their spending power can rival the top six and Newcastle may fancy pairing Botman up with compatriot Sven Botman.
It’s early days with this move but Inter are already facing an uphill battle to keep their experienced defender.
