Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United both want to sign Fiorentina hitman Dusan Vlahovic – but there is a feeling he is off to Juventus.
That’s according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who was speaking on The Football Terrace earlier today.
Jones claimed that Vlahovic’s representatives did indeed come over to England just a couple of weeks ago.
They were seeking English interest ahead of the January window. Fiorentina likely need to sell Vlahovic in January in order to bring in €80million (£67million).
English clubs are keen, but Jones claims there is a suspicion that a deal with Juventus is close or even agreed.
“It’s very likely to be January, because Fiorentina – as much as they love him being their player – they need him to go in January basically, because they will get €80million for him if he goes in January,” said Jones.
“His representatives have been in England a couple of weeks ago, sounding out interested clubs. There’s no doubt that there is interest here, the problem is that the clubs all get the impression that he’s going to Juventus. There’s a feeling that a deal might already be done with Juve,” he added.
Tottenham and Newcastle to miss out on Vlahovic?
The main two English clubs linked with Vlahovic are Tottenham and Newcastle.
Tottenham were interested over the summer and the Daily Mail claim new boss Antonio Conte wants Vlahovic.
The Sun report that Newcastle have been scouting Vlahovic ahead of making a move for the Serbian international.
Vlahovic would be quite the capture for either side, but it sounds like Juventus are the favourites.
Vlahovic thinks he’s the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and you can’t really argue with him based on his goal record.
The 21-year-old has hit 10 goals and two assists in 13 games this term, following 21 goals in 37 league games last term.
Seemingly on a path to stardom, Vlahovic may be staying in Italy instead of joining Tottenham or Newcastle.
