Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United could now taste defeat in the race to sign Yannick Carrasco, who could be closing on on a switch to Barcelona, as per journalist Gerard Romero.
Just a couple of weeks ago, MARCA had made a claim that the £142,000-a-week winger was keen on leaving Atletico Madrid, and after turning down both English giants, he was open to a Premier League switch.
Recently, Media Foot stated that Simeone was open to the Belgian departing for a £35 million fee.
However, it now seems as if Tottenham and Newcastle could face rejection from Yannick Carrasco, described as an ‘incredible dribbler’ by Diego Simeone who reportedly seems to be closing in on a transfer to Barcelona.
Ultimately, both sides could do with the addition of a brand-new wideman.
Apart from Dejan Kulusevski, all of the other wingers playing for Antonio Conte’s side have flattered to deceive.
While Richarlison has played limited minutes this season, Son-Heung min’s form has fallen off a cliff after sharing the Premier League Golden Boot last season.
Coming onto the Magpies, while Miguel Almiron has been dazzling, Jacob Murphy remains an upgradeable asset, while Allan Saint-Maximin has suffered due to a culmination of injury woes and being out-of-favour.
As a result, it makes sense why Tottenham and Newcastle would be open to signing Barcelona-linked Yannick Carrasco.
However, a fresh revelation suggests he is likely to stay in Spain.
Tottenham & Newcastle could be defeated by Barcelona in Carrasco chase

As per an update provided by Gerard Romero, Tottenham and Newcastle-linked Yannick Carrasco could be headed to Barcelona.
Romero said on his Twitch channel, “The Memphis [Depay]-[Yannick] Carrasco operation continues to gain more integers.”
While Atletico Madrid seem ‘confident’ in their pursuit to land Memphis Depay, as per Fabrizio Romano, it seems as if both La Liga sides are considering a potential swap deal.
At the end of the day, Tottenham and Newcastle seemingly will have to look elsewhere, if the Atletico Madrid forward does end up joining Barcelona.
And with a number of prodigious wingers on the market, perhaps signing a 30-year-old would not have been the best transfer decision anyway.
