Tottenham Hotspur’s new signing Paulo Gazzaniga has told the club’s official website that he believes Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm are ‘unbelievable’ goalkeepers, suggesting that Lloris can teach him a lot.

Spurs completed their first two signings of the summer on Wednesday, with Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez grabbing the headlines as he arrived in a move that could end up being a club-record deal.

Earlier on Wednesday afternoon though, Tottenham announced that goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has joined the club from Premier League rivals Southampton, penning a five-year deal with the club.

Gazzaniga, 25, joined Southampton from Gillingham back in 2012, but struggled to nail down a first-team place on the South Coast, as he made just 23 appearance for the Saints before being loaned out to Rayo Vallecano last summer.

The Argentinian returned from Spain this summer but had no place in Mauricio Pellegrino’s squad on the South Coast, and the Saints have now decided to sell him, allowing him to reunite with his former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham.

Following Pau Lopez’s return to Espanyol, manager Pochettino seemingly felt that he needed to bring in another third-choice goalkeeper, with Gazzaniga now offering cover behind Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm for the foreseeable future.

With a manager who knows him, Gazzaniga will hope to settle in to life at Tottenham, and he has already hailed two of his new team-mates in an interview with the club’s official website.

Gazzaniga admitted that it feels ‘amazing’ to be playing alongside Lloris and Vorm, claiming both are ‘unbelievable’ – and believes that captain Lloris will be the perfect teacher moving forward.

“Amazing,” said Gazzaniga. “They are unbelievable goalies, so I have to learn a lot from them, because they are top-class goalies.”

“I think [Lloris] will be a good teacher for me. I like to watch them, to try to improve myself, and I think I am in the right place to grow now,” he added.
