Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho has failed to find a permanent solution at left-back and having considered an approach for Rose over the summer, is ready to make a move in the New Year.
Chelsea are also believed to be keeping tabs on developments and after the England international’s controversial interview with the Sun in which he criticised Spurs’ transfer policy and wage structure, among other things, many fans may be open to his departure – as shown below:
There is also the fact that Ben Davies has been a fine replacement for Rose at wing-back because of his absence with a knee injury and just as Kyle Walker’s exit to Manchester City has allowed Kieran Trippier to flourish, Davies has been able to do the same on the opposite flank.
Maybe the Welshman will continue in this vein, but it is perhaps a case of ‘out of sight, out of mind’ when it comes to Rose – who hasn’t played since January – because there is arguably no better player in the Premier League than the 27-year-old in his position when fit.

The Englishman has been named on the left side of defence in each of the past two season’s PFA team of the year and in Mauricio Pochettino’s 3-4-3 system he provides the width that stretches the play in attack and allows Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen to operate more narrowly behind striker Harry Kane.
Rose certainly needs to win over some supporters who are disgruntled with the things he said in his interview, but the adverse effect of losing both Walker and Rose in quick succession could potentially have should not be underestimated.
