Could Antoine Griezmann’s announcement have a knock-on effect for Tottenham Hotspur?

So far, Tottenham Hotspur’s best business this summer has come in the form of extensions for manager Mauricio Pochettino and red-hot hitman Harry Kane.
Both committed their futures to Spurs in recent weeks and Tottenham, according to The Mirror, will now look to do the same with Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
But a big announcement from Antoine Griezmann could potentially complicate their attempts to hang on to the Danish playmaker this summer.
The Atletico Madrid superstar, valued at £143 million [CIES, Football Observatory], pledged his future to the Spanish giants on Thursday, amid reported interest from Barcelona.

On the surface, this has no bearing on anything related to Tottenham, but a report from Sport earlier this month indicated that Griezmann’s future might have implications for the Dane.
The Spanish outlet suggested that Barcelona would take a run at Eriksen if they failed to sign Griezmann and, considering the Frenchman is going nowhere, it seems logical, if the report is accurate, that the Camp Nou side could turn their attentions to the Lilywhites playmaker.
That isn’t to say Eriksen is definitely leaving, but Sport, the same publication, claimed this week that Barca could use Rafinha as a sweetener in any deal for the Tottenham maestro. That, combined with the previous report about Griezmann, means that Spurs’ urgency to extend Eriksen’s contract may be at an all-time high.
