Tottenham are tracking one of Turkey’s top talents. Manchester City didn’t give theirs a chance.
Tottenham Hotspur are pushing to try and sign Turkish talent Cengiz Under, according to The Times.
Under is a 19-year-old winger who has already played and scored for Turkey’s national team and is already a regular for his club.
Under plays for Istanbul Basaksehir, who sit in second place in the Turkish Super Lig with one game remaining.
If Tottenham are to lure the winger to North London, they may have to promise he will be given chances his compatriot was not at Manchester City.
Under’s rise in Turkey is comparable to Enes Unal, who became a regular at Bursaspor before being snapped up by Manchester City.
Manchester City’s Enes Unal (C) in action
Instead of being integrated to the first team, Unal was sent on loan to Genk, then NAC Breda, and most recently FC Twente.
Last season Unal netted 19 goals for Twente, but instead of this being enough to earn him a first team spot next season, the young striker has been sold to Villarreal.
It is peculiar business from City, even if they have inserted a buy-back clause into his terms of sale, The Guardian report.

It would be natural for Cengiz Under to have concerns that he would be treated the same way if he made the switch to the Premier League.
Manchester United are battling Spurs for his signature, but Under may consider Spurs more attractive than one of the Manchester behemoths, with his chances of first team football enhanced.
The tricky path of his compatriot could even sway him into staying put, especially with Turkey still possessing a fighting chance of landing a World Cup play-off spot for next summer’s finals.
