Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing the Burnley goalkeeper, but Tottenham Hotspur should enter the race.
The Sun reported earlier this week that Arsenal are interested in signing Burnley ace Nick Pope, and Tottenham should surely be challenging their north London rival’s for the stopper’s signature.
Hugo Lloris is the current number one goalkeeper at Spurs, but his performances this season have been well below par, although he has shown signs of improvements in recent weeks.
Tottenham do also have Paulo Gazzaniga in reserve, but the addition of Pope really would keep Lloris, 32, on his toes.
The 26-year-old Burnley goalkeeper will be available for just £10 million this summer, according to the Sun, and that would surely represent excellent value for Tottenham.
Pope, an England international, is a great shot stopper, and standing at 6ft 3in tall, he has the ability to command his penalty area with authority.
He is already extensively experienced, and a move to Spurs seems like the right move for him at this stage of his career.
It could be argued that Tottenham actually need to strengthen in other areas of the pitch in the summer, but the opportunity to sign someone with Pope’s quality for £10 million might just prove to be too hard to resist for the north London outfit.
