Tottenham Hotspur would surely love to add a new centre back this summer, but the impact of the global pandemic may make things a little difficult.
Jose Mourinho’s budget will be heavily impacted by the pandemic, and Spurs need to be clever in the transfer market. Loans, free agents and swaps may have to be pursued in order to minimise costs.
With Jan Vertonghen set to leave, Spurs need to find another centre back – especially with Juan Foyth potentially leaving the club too.
Mundo Deportivo claim that Foyth has been offered to Barca, with the Catalan giants considering bringing the Argentinian to the Camp Nou this summer.
Barcelona appear to at least be intrigued by this possibility, and Tottenham should be looking to engineer a swap deal with the La Liga giants if they’re interested.
Barca seem willing to part ways with Jean-Clair Todibo. So much so, that they opened talks with Everton about selling the Frenchman for just £17.4million last month.
Everton haven’t been able to finalise a deal for Todibo, meaning there is now a chance for other clubs to hijack them – and Tottenham should be interested.
Todibo, 20, is the sort of player Spurs should pursue. He undoubtedly has untapped potential, and his skill set is surely appealing to Mourinho given that he is quick, strong, tall and has shown a promising reading of the game for his age.

Mourinho has moved for the likes of Raphael Varane and Eric Bailly in the future, who have possessed similar skill sets. Todibo may just tick similar boxes for Mourinho, and his availability should attract Tottenham.
Offering a small amount of cash plus Foyth may just tempt Barcelona into a deal, whilst handing Mourinho a more suitable centre back for his style of play.
There is a chance that Barcelona say no and would rather take Everton’s cash, but with Foyth being considered, it makes perfect sense for Spurs to attempt this swap.
