Tottenham Hotspur were linked with Leon Bailey earlier in the summer, and a new report has suggested that he is keen to force through a move.
At that price, it would have been a major surprise if Spurs made a serious move for the 20-year-old given that he is still something of an unproven talent.
However, almost two months later, it appears that Bailey leaving the Bundesliga side looks a lot more likely. The Sun has suggested that he is looking to force through a move to the Premier League, and Leverkusen are going to struggle to turn down a bid of between £35 million and £40 million.
Given the latest reports, Spurs would arguably be making a huge mistake if they not did make a fresh move in the hope that they can convince Bailey to turn down some of their potential title rivals and join Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The Tottenham fans are starting to get frustrated with the lack of transfer activity once again, and Daniel Levy arguably needs to pull something fairly big out of the bag if he hopes to avoid further discontent growing.
Bailey is not the finished article, but his form in Germany suggests that his future is incredibly bright and his versatility could make him an enormously important player to Pochettino’s side if they did make a fresh move and win the race.
When Spurs were previously linked, their apparent reluctance to bid seemed to make a lot of sense given the asking price. But with Bailey keen to move to England as price-tag seemingly drops significantly, and with Tottenham needing new faces arriving soon, all the pieces seem to fall into place this time around.
