Tottenham move for Sessegnon still possible with forward planning

Tottenham should not give up on their aims to sign Ryan Sessegnon.

Ryan Sessegnon fired Fulham into the play-off final in midweek and strengthened his club’s chances of keeping him next season.

In the same breath, Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of signing the ‘next Gareth Bale’ were dealt a blow.

The Mirror had reported earlier this year that Tottenham are Sessegnon’s top pick if he leaves Fulham.

Fulham are now just one win away from securing Premier League football, and reducing Sessegnon’s need to leave. For next season at least.

Spurs would have to consider defeat, but only temporarily.

Tottenham must cast their minds back to their negotiating trick when they signed Dele Alli from MK Dons in 2015, and offer Fulham cash plus a loan agreement.

Sessegnon is in huge demand from Europe’s top clubs, and Tottenham can still secure a major coup if they pay now and agree to loan him back for one season, even two years.

It would likely require a record fee, and loaning out a signing of this magnitude would certainly be unusual.

But it’s the price Spurs would have to pay to sign Sessegnon and he is such a remarkable talent that he is worth them taking unprecedented steps over.
