Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko has spoken highly of Liverpool cult hero Mohamed Sissoko, admitting he used to enjoy watching him play and recalling the opportunity he had to swap shirts with the “great player”, in conversation with the Spurs website.
Momo Sissoko, a combative midfielder like the Spurs ace, joined the Anfield outfit from Valencia in the summer of 2005 for £5million (BBC Sport), linking up once again with Rafael Benitez after the two won La Liga, the UEFA Cup and the Super Cup at the Mestalla.
While at Liverpool, he won the Super Cup once again, as well as an FA Cup and the Community Shield, and during his two-and-a-half years on Merseyside, he made 86 appearances and was loved by the fanbase (Liverpool Echo).
Moussa Sissoko was asked by Tottenham teammate Ben Davies about who, aside from him, was the best Sissoko in football and he replied: “Mohamed Sissoko. He played for Valencia and Liverpool.
“He was a great player. I used to enjoy watching him because we had the same name. I had the chance to play against him at Toulouse, we played in the Champions League qualifiers against Liverpool. It was my third game. We swapped shirts.”
As present, Momo Sissoko is without a club (Transfermarkt), having last played for Ligue 2 side Sochaux after penning a contract in January until the end of the 2018-19 season (BBC Sport).
