Tottenham have taken to TikTok to mock Newcastle target Mohammed Salisu for his mistake on Saturday.
What’s the story?
Well, the £10.9m man – who Eddie Howe supposedly wants at Newcastle – unfortunately handed Spurs a third goal during their 4-1 win over Southampton on Saturday by putting the ball into his own net.
After Emerson Royal rolled a weak cross into the box without a Tottenham player on the end of it, Salisu seemingly had the simple task of clearing the ball away.
However, the 23-year-old bizarrely used his left foot instead of his right, and ended up slotting the ball past Gavin Bazunu – now, Tottenham have mocked him for his error.
As you can see, the north Londoners posted a video of the Ghanaian on TikTok with the sound of someone laughing hysterically in the background – no sympathy from Spurs, to say the least.
After a shaky start to the season, we wonder if Newcastle remain interested in Salisu.
In our view, it would be quite harsh of the Magpies to abandon their pursuit of the defender on the basis on one error, in a game where Southampton were clearly up against it.
Forget Tottenham error – Newcastle do not need Salisu regardless
Putting his own goal aside for a moment, we believe Howe no longer has any need for Salisu.
The Magpies now have plenty of depth in their centre-back department, to the point where they didn’t even need to start Sven Botman in the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, as Fabian Schar and Dan Burn did the business.

Jamaal Lascelles is also an option for Howe, so we see no reason why a move for Salisu is necessary.
The Southampton No.22 is a decent player, but he should only be signed if one of Howe’s existing options happens to leave before the transfer deadline.
