Pedro Porro is back in the Premier League after being let go by Manchester City.
Spurs have signed Porro as their first choice wing-back, and, interestingly, this isn’t the first time they’ve signed a Manchester City outcast in this position.
Indeed, Spurs’ last top-class player in this position was Kieran Trippier, and Porro could be on the same trajectory as the England star.
Both players have a similar story, as they were once young prospects at Manchester City, but were let go and have since gone on to become stars elsewhere.
Porro was just 21 years old when he was let go by Manchester City and since then, he has made a name for himself playing for Sporting CP where he has starred in both domestic and European competitions, earning himself a move to Spurs.

Similarly, Kieran Trippier was released by Manchester City when he was just 21 years old. He then joined Burnley and made his name in the EFL making his way to the Premier League with the Clarets.
Trippier would eventually move to north London and became a key player for Tottenham, helping them reach the Champions League final in 2019.
While Porro may not have the same reputation as Trippier at this point, he has all the qualities to similarly make himself a success in the Premier League.
He’s quick, he’s clever on the ball and he reads the game well. His crosses are pin-point making him a serious threat going forward.
He’s already demonstrated his ability to perform at a high level with Sporting CP, and Tottenham fans will be hoping that he can replicate that form in the Premier League.
Porro could be just like Kieran Trippier for Tottenham.
Both players were once let go by Manchester City and have since gone on to become stars elsewhere. They both have a similar style of play, with a focus on attacking from full-back, and now that Porro is back in the English top-flight, much like Trippier, he has a serious point to prove after being told he wasn’t good enough by City.
