Tottenham fans will be relieved to hear that a key member of their midfield has withdrawn from international duty.

Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama has received high praise for his performances since arriving from Southampton in the summer, with Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City being one of his best displays to date.
He is clearly a vital member of the Spurs starting XI and fans will be pleased to learn that he has withdrawn from Kenya’s squad to face DR Congo, as reported by Daily Star.
The 25-year-old was scheduled to captain his nation in the friendly on Tuesday, however the Kenyan FA have decided to save him the trip in order to protect his fitness levels.
A Kenyan FA statement read: “Coach Stanley Okumbi after consultation with Tottenham has opted against calling Wanyama.

“The decision was made in the player’s best interest as the technical bench felt it would not be in Victor’s best interest to play two matches in two continents in under 48 hours.”
Sunday’s triumph saw the North London side move up to 2nd in the league table, maintaining their unbeaten start to the campaign in the process. Many are starting to tip them as title contenders with Wanyama set to be a big part of manager Pochettino’s plans.
This announcement will boost Spurs’ hopes of Wanyama being fit and ready for their next Premier League game, which will take place against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns following the international break.
