Tottenham midfielder’s injury problems could provide an opening for Arsenal star.

Jack Wilshere played no part in Gareth Southgate’s England squads at the end of 2017.
Instead it was Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks who starred, winning plaudits from fans and pundits alike as the Three Lions sealed their place at Russia 2018.
Wilshere has since begun playing more regularly for Arsenal, making 10 Premier League starts in total.
It isn’t a very high number, but his prospects have been enhanced by Harry Wink’s injury troubles.

For all Wilshere’s troubles, he has actually started one more Premier League game than Winks this season.
Winks has just nine starts in the division, the last being Tottenham’s 4-1 loss to Manchester City in mid-December.
Since then injuries have led to him having to rely on cup opportunities against Newport and Rochdale, and when he has played, he has disappointed.

Last Autumn, Winks opened up a chasm between himself and Wilshere in terms of their progress. Since then the gap has closed and the pair are on an equal footing.
His stalled progress has given Wilshere a lifeline, and if not in tomorrow’s squad, Gareth Southgate may have to choose between the two this summer.
