Stefan de Vrij has been making the transfer gossip pages this summer, with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur linked with the Inter Milan defender.

In June, Italian news outlet CMW claimed that Inter want to sign Arsenal centre-back Gabriel and are willing to send De Vrij to the Emirates Stadium in a swap deal.
Now, the Nerazzurri might want the Brazilian star, but it is really hard to see Arsenal part company with one of their best players, especially with the new Premier League season about to start.
CMW are now reporting that Tottenham are interested in signing the Netherlands international defender from head coach Antonio Conte’s former club Inter.
Free signing in 2023?
However, according to the report, Spurs may wait until the summer of 2023 to secure the services of the 30-year-old on a free transfer.
Just like they did with Ivan Perisic this summer.
CMW have reported that Inter and De Vrij cannot agree on a new deal, with the defender out of contract at the former Italian champions next summer.
Earlier this summer, Tottenham signed Croatian star Perisic on a free transfer after his contract at Inter ran out at the end of last season.
It would not be a bad idea for Tottenham to sign De Vrij on a free transfer next summer, but a lot could happen between now and then.
