Tottenham reportedly have their eye on Jack Clarke.

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Leeds United winger Jack Clarke, report Football London.

Clarke is making a name for himself at Leeds, with his tricky and elusive wing play showcased to large audiences in last Friday’s televised win over Derby.

Spurs have a history of signing up top players from the Football League. Famously they signed Gareth Bale from Southampton back in 2007.

Clarke lacks the set piece repertoire Bale had back then, but he is already a more accomplished winger than the Welshman was at his age.

For Tottenham he is well worth taking a chance on, and hoping he can develop into their next great winger.

Big problem

There are a few problems with Tottenham’s interest in the Leeds star. Firstly that the Championship leaders are in no mood to sell, The Mirror report.

Leeds also hope to win promotion, which takes away one of Clarke’s big incentives to leave the club. If they fail to go up, Tottenham’s chances are a bit easier.

We say a bit easier rather than ‘a lot’, because the biggest obstacle to a deal is Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino’ relationship with Leeds’ Marcelo Bielsa.

Pochettino regards Bielsa as a mentor and a friend, and it is highly unlikely he would seek to antagonise him by taking away Leeds’ most exciting young player.
