Tottenham may be watching Empoli-Juventus with interest

Tottenham Hotspur have been keeping an eye on Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco for some time and he may get a chance to shine against Empoli.

Both Tottenham and North London rivals have been linked with Italian international forward Sebastian Giovinco, but he remains out of favour at Juventus.

The diminutive star has been second-choice with Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente leading the line and it has become increasingly likely that Giovinco may leave Turin.

Giovinco’s contract expires next summer and negotiations over a new deal have progressed slowly, but the homegrown player still seems reluctant to move on.

This weekend, Giovinco is expected to get a chance to convince coach Massimiliano Allegri that he should be starting regularly.

Italian website Sportmediaset believes that after a shock 1-0 loss to Genoa, Juventus boss Allegri is ready to make some changes, especially with a crucial Champions League game against Olympiacos coming up.

Juve were beaten 1-0 in Greece and need to make sure they deliver, so Tevez may be rested and Giovinco may be given a chance against Empoli.

The Italian champions will be confident of beating minnows Empoli even with a second-string side, so Allegri may take some chances.

Giovinco needs to impress if he is to show Juventus that they should give him a new contract, otherwise he could finally be headed for the Premier League next year.
