England are through to their first major tournament final since 1966, and Tottenham’s Harry Kane has yet another chance to win the first piece of silverware in his career.
It’s no secret that Kane is desperate to win trophies to cement his legacy, and sadly for Spurs, there’s the feeling that he needs to get out of north London in order to do that.
However, this Sunday’s Euros final could provide Tottenham with a boost in their quest to keep Kane.
Kane’s biggest worry is seemingly the fact that he won’t win any trophies during his career, thus leaving behind a legacy undeserving of a player of his quality, but what about if he was to win the Euros?

Kane wouldn’t only be winning the Euros, he’d be winning the tournament at Wembley as England captain – how’s that for a legacy?
Yes, every player wants to win domestic honours, but at the end of the day, no matter what he would win at Man City, Man United or even Real Madrid, winning the Euros as England captain would undoubtedly be the crowning moment of his career, no matter what he does.
Surely a winners’ medal at the Euros would fill the trophy-shaped void that has clearly been eating Kane up inside, and a triumph at Wembley on Sunday could put everything into perspective for the striker.
The reality is in football that you don’t need domestic honours to be considered a true legend of the game, when you speak about the likes of Diego Maradona and Pele, you hear about their World Cup exploits, not their Serie A wins with Napoli or their two Copa Libertadores triumphs with Santos.
Kane could be about to cement his legacy once and for all, and if he leads England to their first trophy since 1966, that will surely scratch that itch he’s been feeling in regards to never winning a trophy.
If Kane wins the Euros with England it could act as a huge boost for Spurs in terms of keeping him at the club as his legacy will be safe, regardless of whatever he does at domestic level from now until the end of his career.
Let’s just hope that England manage to overcome Italy this weekend.
