According to numerous reports this week, Tottenham are in talks with Mauricio Pochettino about becoming their next manager.
Pochettino has reportedly told his friends that he wants the job, and the Argentine hasn’t been shy about his desire to return to Tottenham in the past.
Indeed, Pochettino has been very open about the fact he wants to come back to north London one day, and that day could come soon.
What did Pochettino say
Not long after he was sacked by Spurs, Pochettino was doing a number of TV appearances, and on BT Sport back in April 2020, he admitted his desire to one day return to Spurs.
“Before I die I want to manage Tottenham and try to win one title,” Pochettino said
“It will be an opportunity to pay back fans for all the love they showed us.
“From the day that I left the club, my dream is to one day be back and finish the work we didn’t finish.”
“Deep inside I would like one day to be back, this club is special.”
Match made in heaven
If Pochettino is still open to this move, Levy has to at least enquire about the possibility of bringing him in.
Of course, getting a manager out of a club as big as PSG could be quite expensive, but for Pochettino, it could be worth it.
Bringing the Argentine back would immediately lift spirits at the club and it could be the start of another golden era in north London.
Based on Pochettino’s comments last year, even if he’s not back in the Spurs dugout in the coming weeks, it may not be long before we see him back in the dugout.
