Tottenham Hotspur defender Matt Doherty could make a shock return to former club Wolverhampton Wanderers during this month’s transfer window.
Doherty joined Tottenham from Wolves for £15million in 2020 as Jose Mourinho brought the Irishman to North London.
Doherty hasn’t hit the same heights at Tottenham and Antonio Conte seems willing to let him leave this month.
Conte did give Doherty a start against Chelsea on Wednesday night, but substituted him at half time.
The Sun report that Doherty could now rejoin Wolves on loan this month.
The Express add that Wolves have already submitted a bid for Doherty and the deal is set to go through.
This seems a little surprising given that Wolves were willing to let Doherty leave 18 months ago.

If Semedo leaves, Wolves would absolutely need another right wing back. A player with experience would be perfect, just so Ki-Jana Hoever isn’t forced to start.
Doherty does fit the bill, and we could see Doherty head back to Molineux in the coming days if these reports are correct.
