Tottenham manager Thomas Frank responded after a photo emerged of him using an Arsenal cup before the Spurs lost to Bournemouth.

Thomas Frank has responded to a viral photo of him drinking from an Arsenal-branded cup before Tottenham’s match against Bournemouth.

The image sparked a wave of social media reactions, prompting the Spurs boss to clarify what really happened.

Frank’s explanation came after Tottenham’s 3–2 loss at the Vitality Stadium — a result that extended their poor run to just one win in five league matches.

Thomas Frank frustrated after Arsenal cup photo goes viral

During his post-match press conference, Thomas Frank was asked about the incident after images of him with an Arsenal-branded cup circulated online.

Arsenal had played at Bournemouth days earlier, leaving the cups in the visiting team’s area of the stadium. The Spurs boss expressed disappointment that such a trivial issue had become a talking point.

“It would be absolutely stupid of me to take a cup with Arsenal on it. Anyone thinking I’ve done that or the staff has done it…

“They’ve been in the changing room the game before us. It’s normal to say ‘give me a cup of espresso’ before every game.

“I think it’s a little bit sad in football that I need to be asked a question like that. We are definitely going in the wrong direction if we are worrying about me having a cup of another club. Of course, I wouldn’t do that. That would be really stupid.”

The moment, though harmless, reflected the kind of scrutiny Premier League managers often face — even over minor details that catch the public eye.

Bournemouth defeat adds pressure as Tottenham’s slump continues

The incident came amid growing pressure on Frank, whose Spurs side fell to 14th in the Premier League table following the 3–2 defeat.

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo struck a late winner to seal the result after Tottenham had fought back twice in the second half.

“I think it’s fair to say everyone involved in Tottenham, it’s a tough one to take. Overall, the performance was good, especially the second half, in a game where we deserved to get more.”

Despite frustration at both the loss and the viral photo, Frank reaffirmed his focus on improving performances rather than off-field distractions.

The manager said he hoped fans could see the progress the team is making, despite their difficult run of form.
