Simon Jordan questioned on talkSPORT why Tottenham wanted Paulo Fonseca in the first place.
Like many others, a number of weeks ago, it seemed as though Fonseca was going to take over the reins at Tottenham, only for talks to break down.
Now, Spurs are still without a manager and it doesn’t seem as though anything will re-ignite with the 48-year-old, who left Roma at the end of the season.
But former Crystal Palace owner, Jordan, questioned why Spurs would push for someone like Fonseca in the first place, as he blasted his time in Rome.
“Paulo Fonseca’s tax problems in Italy probably means somebody else has got to pick his tax bill up, which Tottenham didn’t want to do,” said Jordan.
“Paulo Fonseca. Why would you want him? With the greatest will in the world. He hardly pulled up any trees in Roma, did he?!
“And you have a billionaire owner in Roma that doesn’t want to back him. He would rather get rid of him and bring in the guy that Tottenham didn’t want. It doesn’t make a lot of sense.”

It now seems as though Tottenham have gone back to basics in trying to find a replacement for Jose Mourinho.
At this rate, they might overlap those managers they have talked to and then not reached an agreement with, that’s how farcical the situation has become.
It’s a case of take your pick as to who will be the new face to take over at Tottenham, and whoever does, they have an almighty job on their hands.
Not only do they have to deal with a declining and ageing squad, but there’s also the possibility of losing a certain Harry Kane.
