Tottenham legend, Jurgen Klinsmann, told Match of the Day on BBC One (26/06/21 at 7:45 pm) that Roberto Mancini has done an ‘insane’ job with Italy.
The 56-year-old is a new name that has emerged for the vacant Tottenham post, with the Telegraph claiming that those in the North London boardroom admire his work.
After missing out on the last major tournament, Mancini has turned the fortunes of the Italian’s around in recent years.
They qualified for the Euros with ease and are currently on a 31-game unbeaten run after progressing through to the quarter-finals yesterday.
It’s work that has been lauded by Klinsmann, as he shared what he has liked about the ex-Manchester City boss.
“Roberto Mancini gave them a completely new face,” said Klinsmann. “What he did over the last few years is just insane, really.
“He gave them a completely new brand of how to play. To be courageous and move forward. To be mobile and it really gives the players energy.
“The way they switch positions and it’s fun to run for them. It’s really fun to watch.”
Mancini isn’t the only man at Euro 2020, who has been linked with the Spurs job because Roberto Martinez’s name has also popped up.
Both Italy and Belgium are still in the competition, so those two managers won’t be going anywhere, anytime soon.
But given how Tottenham have gone about their managerial hunt, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they don’t have a new face in the dugout by the time Euro 2020 is over.
If that’s the case then it will be an utter embarrassment for Daniel Levy, who has already made a mockery of this situation and his search to replace Jose Mourinho.
