Tottenham star Harry Kane has told England YouTube programme Lions’ Den that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is “one of the best leaders” he has played with – after Henderson starred for England on Sunday night against Senegal.
Kane and Henderson were both on the score sheet in the last 16, as England cruised past Senegal to win 3-0. That is despite a nervy couple of moments in the first 30 minutes. But another clean sheet, and a place in the quarter-finals.
France face Kane, Henderson and England next. A France side that boasts stars like Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud and Ousmane Dembele. They are the current World Cup champions. But England will be very confident.
Tottenham ace Kane was asked by Lions’ Den presenter Josh Denzel about Henderson after the midfielder’s display on Monday. He heaped praise on the Reds skipper – saying he is one of the best leaders he has played with in his career.

“He’s one of the best leaders I’ve played with. He’s really vocal, he pushes players their absolute max and that’s why he has been great in the games he has played. Outstanding with the ball, outstanding without the ball,” Kane said.
“The way we’ve been pressing, it is good to hear him behind you. You need different types of leaders. It doesn’t matter who you are, he will keep pushing you. An amazing performance from him. A lot of good stuff was down to him.”
Kane: Liverpool captain Henderson is one of the best leaders
Henderson simply has to start against France. Something not many would have said at the start of the tournament. But having Henderson in the team as a box-to-box midfielder allows two crucial things for England, ahead of France.
Firstly, giving Jude Bellingham the freedom to thrive. It allows the Dortmund man to play as an eight, or even as a 10. To get forward and score goals, or create. Secondly, his defensive nous makes it easier to remain with a back four.
