Tottenham want Malcolm Ebiowei but now seem to be lagging behind with Manchester United and Crystal Palace leading the race.

It has been quite a the rise to promince for Ebiowei.

The former Arsenal talent wasn’t really getting anywhere with the Gunners and left in 2020.

Rangers were more than happy to snap him up, seemingly believing that they could mould him into a star at Ibrox.

Yet just a year after his arrival in Glasgow, Ebiowei was on the move again as he joined Derby County.

Ebiowei was in danger of becoming a nomadic talent but he has really thrived since joining Derby.

Tottenham want Malcolm Ebiowei

Ebiowei was given a first-team chance by Wayne Rooney and he has really seized his opportunity with the Rams.

The 18-year-old played 16 Championship games last season, picking up one goal and two assists for Derby.

Ebiowei has shown his ability as a skilful and tricky winger who loves to take on defenders.

Rooney has hailed Ebiowei as ‘excellent’ and there are real hopes that the teenager can become a star in the coming years.

With Derby struggling for cash, it’s no great surprise that Ebiowei is attracting major interest.

Tottenham are understood to be keen on Ebiowei with Fulham, Leeds United and RB Leipzig also showing an interest in the teenager.

It now looks like Ebiowei won’t be heading to Tottenham though with Fabrizio Romano commenting on the winger’s future.

Romano has taken to Twitter to claim that Manchester United and Crystal Palace are now leading the race.

Monaco were also keen but Ebiowei wants to move to the Premier League and it looks like his destination will be United or Palace.

That will be frustrating for Tottenham as they look to add English talent, but who could blame Ebiowei for wanting to follow in Rooney’s footsteps by playing for United?
