Tottenham Hotspur still fancy Lucas Paqueta but Arsenal have no plans to hijack West Ham United’s bid for the Lyon playmaker this summer.

Tottenham and Arsenal have both added new faces to their midfield setup this summer.

Spurs have secured the signing of Yves Bissouma, but he hasn’t yet pushed past Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in Tottenham’s first-choice midfield pairing.

Arsenal added Porto playmaker Fabio Vieira, but he will seemingly offer cover and competition for Martin Odegaard.

Both clubs have been linked with Lyon star Paqueta too, but it looks like they have differing views on signing him in the next week.

West Ham United have made their move for Paqueta, with David Moyes admitting that a bid has been submitted to Lyon.

Sky Sports claim that the offer – which comes to around £33.8million – has been rejected with Lyon holding out for more money.

So could Arsenal or Tottenham swoop in to beat West Ham?

Well, The Express claim that Arsenal have no plans to make a move of their own for Paqueta.

Whilst Arsenal considered Paqueta at one point, they don’t want another creative midfield player having signed Vieira.

However, Tottenham do really like Paqueta and director of football Fabio Paratici is understood to be a big fan.

Tottenham are seemingly watching developments and would only make their move if the price is absolutely right for them.

Spurs do lack a real playmaking midfielder and have been linked with other left-footed creators like Ruslan Malinovskyi and Hakim Ziyech.

Paqueta certainly fits the bill for Tottenham and would bring something different to what Antonio Conte currently has at his disposal.

West Ham may well return with a new bid, but we would suggest being very wary of Tottenham making a late move for the Brazilian ace.
