Exiled Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen has suggested to Turkish outlet Fanatik that he would like to extend his stay with Fenerbahce after joining the side on loan in the summer.

Janssen endured an incredibly difficult first season with Spurs, often having to bide his time with Harry Kane in such fine form, and finishing the campaign with just two goals in 27 Premier League appearances – admittedly, he started on just seven occasions.

It was little surprise that he departed in the summer, and the move to Fener has arguably been beneficial for the Netherlands international as he has already made more league starts this term than he did in the entirety of last season – though he has only so far matched last year’s goal tally with two strikes coming in the Turkish top flight.

Nevertheless, the 23-year-old has hinted that he would like to stay with Fenerbahce for even longer if it is possible, but admitted that the decision is not down to him.

“I am in team where I’m very happy right now. I would like to continue my career in Fenerbahce,” he said, as reported by Fanatik (via Football London).

“Unfortunately, not everything is down to me. My club’s attitude will be decisive.”

If Janssen does not want to return – and that may well not be the case – then he probably does not need to worry, as his form is arguably giving Mauricio Pochettino little reason to think about bringing him back into the fold anyway, as he is still struggling to replicate the incredible run in the Eredivisie that tempted Spurs to spend a significant fee on him in 2016.

And while Fernando Llorente may have struggled just as much during his first few months following his move to Tottenham, Janssen is arguably hardly showing that he would deserve to move ahead of the Spaniard in the pecking order if he did return anytime soon.
