CIES have released some of their yearly rankings for the most valuable players under the age of 23 in football.

The Football Observatory use a scientific methodology in their attempt to give footballers a true value, and in the U23s section, a few Spurs players feature.

Emerson Royal is ranked as the eighth-most valuable full-back under the age of 23, but perhaps the most interesting name in this list is Pape Matar Sarr.

Indeed, the Tottenham loanee has been ranked as the joint-ninth most valuable young defensive midfielder on the planet alongside Conor Gallagher.

CIES reckon the Spurs loanee is worth €30m, and that must be satisfactory to hear if you’re a Spurs fan.

Indeed, Tottenham only paid £14.6m for the midfielder this summer, and now, CIES are claiming that he’s worth around £25m, so this piece of summer business is already looking like a bit of a bargain.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not he can make an impact at Spurs. The midfielder has been sent back to Metz on loan this season, and while he’s performing well, the Premier League is a different animal.

However, with Gallagher playing brilliantly for Crystal Palace and Sarr valued at the same price point as the Chelsea loanee, there is reason to be excited about this young man’s potential impact in north London next season.
