How Spurs and Manchester United on-loan right-backs compared when Middlesbrough took on Bolton.
Two aspiring Premier League hopefuls went head to head in the Championship when their two loan sides faced off.
Right-back Ryan Fredericks of Tottenham is currently at Middlesbrough, and his opposite number Saidy Janko has just begun a loan spell at Bolton, from Manchester United.
Janko enjoyed a dream debut, scoring an impressive goal against Fulham, but against Middlesbrough it was Fredericks whose overall performance was more impressive.
| Team | Accurate Passes | Won Tackles | Touches | Aerial Duels Won | Key Passes | Interceptions Won | Shots | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryan Fredericks | Middlesbrough | 24 | 4 | 67 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 90 |
| Saidy Janko | Bolton | 7 | 2 | 27 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 83 |
The Spurs loanee had more than twice as many touches than Janko, and won double the number of tackles. The fact Janko made only seven accurate passes is a reflection of his lack of influence in the game.
He did manage to create one chance, and had one shot at goal, but it was Fredericks who walked away happier as Middlesbrough were able to keep a clean sheet in the 1-0 win.
Middlesbrough sit in second place as a result of the win, remaining in the automatic promotion spots, while Bolton as a result slip to 19th, with this their third successive defeat.
