Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Red Bull Salzburg’s Hwang Hee-chan.
According to Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in snapping up Red Bull Salzburg striker Hwang Hee-chan.
Hwang, 22, started out his career with Pohang Steelers in his native South Korea before heading to Austria in 2015, joining Red Bull Salzburg’s feeder club FC Liefering.
The forward flourished last season with 16 goals in all competitions, and this term he has grabbed 12 goals in 31 games, including a key goal in last month’s shock Europa League win over Lazio.
Hwang continues to impress in Salzburg, and it seems that his performances are earning him interest ahead of the summer transfer window and the World Cup, in which he is expected to feature for South Korea.
Salzburger Nachrichten report that Tottenham Hotspur want to bring him to England, whilst German side Hertha Berlin are also keen on the striker.
Hwang could be viewed as a forward for Tottenham to develop behind Harry Kane, but the links to the Red Bull Salzburg ace will cause fans to ask questions about a peculiar pattern developing.
Tottenham have one South Korean star in Son Heung-min, and that may have just opened eyes to other talents there. Last month, Mercato 365 reported that Spurs were keen on Dijon midfielder Kwon Chang-hoon, whilst TEAMtalk claimed just days ago that Tottenham are battling Arsenal and Liverpool for Jeonbuk Hyundai defender Kim Min-Jae.
It may simply be a coincidence that Spurs have been linked with three South Korean talents in just over a week, but it may also hint that Tottenham are looking to land the next Son, and are targeting a nation whose players haven’t necessarily been frequently seen in the Premier League.
