Reported Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool target Ryan Sessegnon hasn’t had a brilliant first season in the Premier League, but he remains a huge talent nonetheless.
He is such a big talent, in fact, Fulham slapped a £100 million asking price on him last summer [The Mirror].
It was enough to ward off interest from Tottenham and Liverpool, but do the Reds have an upper hand if both Premier League sides do come back next summer?
The 18-year-old gem told BT Sport recently: “I remember watching videos of Gerrard number 17, there was one goal I remember that he scored against Everton at Goodison.
Asked if he had a favourite Liverpool top, he said: “Yeah, I did. It was this one [the 2008/09 kit]. Where did I wear it? Near my house to play football.
“I always supported Liverpool so my dad bought me the Gerrard top, he was my favourite player.”
The Anfield side clearly hold a special place in the youngster’s heart and although that alone wouldn’t be enough to reject the prospect of working alongside Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, it may give Jurgen Klopp an advantage nevertheless.
That being said, a transfer from Fulham seems a long way off now, and any departure seems unlikely to materialise until the summer.
Of course, Liverpool, who lead the way in the Premier League, could be champions by then and that might be another big pro for the Merseysiders, and a big con for Spurs.
The left-sided star has scored twice in 19 top-flight outings this season, setting up five.
