Tottenham were linked with Marseille defender Hiroki Sakai.
In June it was claimed by Sky Sports that Tottenham Hotspur were interested in signing Hiroki Sakai.
The experienced Japan international was touted as a possible replacement for Kieran Trippier, at least to add competition for Spurs.
The transfer deadline passed without Tottenham signing a right-back.
Sakai remained at Marseille and he has told French newspaper La Provence that he rejected offers to move.
The defender did not state which clubs the offers came from.
Nonetheless, he appears very happy at Marseille, where he is being managed by former Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas.
Sakai said: “Yes, some came forward, I received offers, but there were no more interesting clubs than OM.
“I feel good here, I’m really happy to play at Marseille.”
Tottenham still have Serge Aurier to back up Kyle Walker-Peters, with Juan Foyth as another option.
They can always reassess in January if Mauricio Pochettino is unhappy with how his right-back options perform.
But if Sakai is still seen as a credible short term option, he might not be easy to tempt away.
