If rumours are correct, Tottenham Hotspur are keen to sign former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
The France international hasn’t featured a lot for Chelsea so far this season and Giroud’s participation at Euro 2021 is at risk if he doesn’t get regular football in the second half of the campaign.
And according to Calciomercato, the 34-year-old, an Arsenal player from 2012 until 2018, is on Tottenham’s radar.
Spurs fans might have mixed emotions about the possibility of signing the big striker.
Not strictly because he used to play for their bitter North London rivals, but because he once tried to recruit a Tottenham player to join him at the Emirates Stadium.
Back in 2014, Giroud admitted via The Guardian that he wanted Lloris to join Arsenal.
He said: “Have I asked him to join Arsenal? Yes, I have with Lolo [Laurent Koscielny]. He would have liked to, he would quite like to. You will have to ask him the question.”
Thankfully for Tottenham it never materialised and despite a couple of mixed years toward the end of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign, Lloris is one of the Lilywhites’ best players again.
Since Jose Mourinho took the reins in North London 12 months ago, the Frenchman has arguably been the club’s most impressive performer.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have looked unbelievable this season, but for 2020 as a whole Lloris has been absolutely faultless and Spurs fans might see the funny side in Giroud trying to recruit him. Now, the shoe is on the other foot.
