Tottenham Hotspur have gone more than a year without signing a player, but there have been rumours upon rumours surrounding the club’s transfer business.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been linked with a whole host of players, but none of them have signed over the past year despite Spurs clearly needing some new faces.

One of the recent names linked was Feyenoord talent Orkun Kokcu, with the Daily Mail claiming in December that Spurs were chasing the playmaker’s signature.

With 17 goals and 34 assists for Feyenoord’s Under-19’s last season, whilst he already has two goals and one assist in six first team outings this term.

A Netherlands youth international, Kokcu looks set for a huge future, and Feyenoord have been concerned about his future given that his contract was set to expire at the end of next season.

However, Feyenoord have now confirmed on their official website that Kokcu has penned a new deal until 2023, securing his future at De Kuip for the next four years.

Tottenham’s hopes of signing Kokcu have clearly been dented by the news, and it seems unlikely that they’ll be able to land him this year barring a remarkable turn of events.

Spurs would be wise to keep tabs on Kokcu’s development as he becomes a first-team player though, with the idea of mounting a future bid as they have to put their interest in him on the back burner.
