Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly monitoring Espanyol hitman Borja Iglesias.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane underlined his quality yet again on Tuesday night, scoring the only goal to beat Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
The Spurs star moved on to 22 goals this season with that strike, and he understandably has fans all around the world off the back of his goalscoring exploits for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
One fan appears to be Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias, who has been a goalscoring hero himself this season with 14 goals and two assists in 30 appearances.
In fact, El Gol Digital reported in November that Spurs are interested in signing Iglesias, with Pochettino looking to raid his former club for a new striker to compete with Kane.
With a €28million (£24million) release clause in his deal, Iglesias does fit into Tottenham’s budget, and would serve as an ideal replacement for compatriot Fernando Llorente.
A big, physical target man with great ability in the air, Iglesias could offer that focal point off the bench, which Llorente has only managed in fits and starts.
Now, Iglesias has told Comuniate that Kane is his favourite striker right now, putting him alongside Jan Oblak, Benjamin Mendy and Isco as his favourite players in each area.
Playing alongside Kane would surely be appealing to Iglesias then, and if Llorente moves on this summer, it would be little surprise to see Pochettino make a move for Iglesias as a replacement.
