The England players could have done with some of Todd Cantwell’s arrogance and confidence during their penalty shootout heartache in the final of Euro 2020 on Sunday.

The 23-year-old once had the confidence and arrogance to mock Tottenham by doing keepy-uppies during a shootout victory in the FA Cup – of course, the levels of pressure for those at the Euros were on a different scale, but it’s a fearless mindset, nonetheless.

Despite 60,000 Spurs supporters getting on his back, the boyhood Arsenal fan walked to his spot, did a few keepy-uppies before putting the ball into the back of the net, as posted by Talk Norwich City.

The Norwich playmaker then shushed the crowd as his side went onto win that FA Cup quarter-final in 2020.

And now it seems as though the Englishman is being looked at by Tottenham, who are keen to add midfield reinforcements to their squad, as Dean Jones told the Football Terrace.

With the attacking bite missing from Tottenham’s midfield, mainly due to the fact that they haven’t replaced Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli’s form hitting several brick walls, then it’s quite clear what type of player they need in the middle of the park.

Cantwell loves to get into those pockets of spaces, but he cannot control or pick out passes like an Eriksen used to do during his prime days in North London.

But he does have great attacking energy in the final third, flair and the ability to score a high-quality goal that would be more than welcome at Spurs.

However, from Tottenham’s perspective, they will feel they can fish in a bigger pond for much better players as they aim to get back into Europe next season.

Whether Alli’s form does or doesn’t return next season, they need to bring fresh faces into the attacking third because they simply cannot afford another season of decline.
