Tottenham Hotspur are planning to make a move for a new left-sided centre back in the January transfer window amid links to Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet.

Football London claim that the feeling inside Tottenham is that they have three top targets for January.

They are a right-sided wing back, a new striker and a left-sided centre back to play Antonio Conte’s back three properly.

Conte is currently using Ben Davies as his left-sided centre back. Davies, a left back by trade, has fared pretty well in that role so far.

Yet with no other naturally left-sided players who can play in a back three, Tottenham could be left short.

That’s why Fabio Paratici will now have to go and find another option there, potentially in January.

Lenglet may fit the bill for Tottenham

One player linked with a move to Tottenham in January is Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet.

Spanish reporter Gerard Romero has claimed that Tottenham want to sign Lenglet in January having failed in the summer.

Lenglet, 26, cost Barcelona £35million in 2018 but is now on the fringes of Xavi’s side.

The Frenchman has managed just four league starts this season and is seen as an expendable player at Barcelona.

Tottenham could now swoop in to sign Lenglet, giving Conte another proven left-sided centre back.
