Tottenham Hotspur have been in superb form recently.
Teddy Sheringham during his Spurs days
Spurs legend Teddy Sheringham explained why Harry Kane and Dele Alli have no reason to leave Tottenham, during an exclusive interview with the Sun, and shared how he wished he was in the same boat as the England international duo during his time at White Hart Lane.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are currently sitting in second position in the Premier League table, albeit a distant 10 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, and both Kane and Alli have been in sensational form of late.
The 23-year-old hitman has scored 24 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for the Lilywhites, whilst the 20-year-old former MK Dons man has chipped in with 15 goals and three assists in 37 outings thus far.
And Sheringham, who scored 125 goals during two separate spells with Tottenham, highlighted how neither player has any reason to leave north London, when speaking to the Sun, sharing his envy that he was not in the same situation during his time with Spurs:
Tottenham’s Harry Kane in action
“Tottenham wasn’t a stepping stone for me. I wanted to get to Tottenham and have what Harry Kane has got now. This has to be the most exciting time at Spurs since Terry Venables. There’s no need for Harry to go anywhere else. Why would he want to go to Manchester, Barcelona or Madrid when everything is here for him? Dele Alli, exactly the same — performing at the top of his game, a regular for England. They don’t need to leave to win trophies.”
The next year or so will be vitally important for Tottenham, in their hopes of keeping hold of their best players, and they must look to at least achieve success on the domestic front, to help convince the likes of Kane and Alli that they are at the right club to achieve their goals.
