Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter, most-likely aiming a dig at Tottenham star Tanguy Ndombele after the midfielder’s exit from Sunday’s win over Morecambe. The Spurs legend says the fans will not accept a lack of effort.
Ndombele, 25, started Sunday’s match against Morecambe in an FA Cup clash – which eventually resulted in a 3-1 win. But unfortunately for Ndombele, he was withdrawn before Antonio Conte’s men fought back.
Indeed, with the scoreline reading 1-0 to the League One side, Conte replaced Ndombele on 69 minutes. He brought on Lucas Moura and Harry Kane, who both scored goals – after Harry Winks netted an equaliser.
Ndombele trudged off with the scoreline 1-0 to Morecambe, instead of trying to get off quickly. He went straight down the tunnel, as Spurs eventually made it comfortable. Roberts took aim, without naming him.
Roberts on Ndombele: Tottenham star has gone a step too far
Tottenham fans have been loyal in their support of the France international. There have been glimpses of genius, his goal against Sheffield United springs to mind. But ultimately, his lack of effort is obvious.
While, as Roberts says, Ndombele is clearly talented – the lack of work ethic and professionalism does not match. Sunday’s dismal display, as well as his attitude when coming off, has taken it a step too far. He needs to go.
Even if it is on loan. Ndombele needs to go somewhere else, start somewhere fresh that is more suited to his laidback style. Serie A football or a return to France should be at the forefront of his plans.
