Tottenham Hotspur legend Ossie Ardiles is calling for unity at the North London club after their semi-final defeat.

Spurs lost 2-1 to Manchester United at the weekend, their eighth semi-final loss in a row.

It was the second season in succession under Mauricio Pochettino they had lost in the last four, and the manager appeared to be devastated after the loss, as were the players.

Former Spurs manager Ardiles, who won the FA Cup with Tottenham as a player, has now given his view on their situation.

He believes Tottenham must pick themselves up and learn from the loss, but that it was not the end of this group of players’ quest for success.

A top four finish is now Tottenham’s target, and ensuring they do not lose out on a Champions League spot.

Spurs are five points ahead of Chelsea and face Watford at Wembley this weekend as they return to the scene of their disappointing loss.

Ardiles’ comments are sensible, but the frustrating thing for Spurs fans is that they could have been uttered last season too.

Sooner or later, Tottenham need to learn how to win the big games when it’s all on the line and change the narrative from being the team which always falls short, to becoming serial winners.
