Graham Roberts says pundits are wrong not to regard Tottenham’s Harry Kane as world class.

Graham Roberts has hit out at the SkySports punditry team after they dismissed Harry Kane as not being a world class striker.

Roberts was commenting after a Monday Night Football segment in which Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry selected Sergio Aguero as the Premier League’s only world class forward.

Henry told SkySports: “The closest to being world class, or is world class, or has been world class is Aguero because of the longevity of what he has done in the Premier League year in, year out.”

Jamie Carragher added: “I think you’ve got to do it in the Champions League or a major tournament, you can’t just do it domestically.”

These comments annoyed former Spurs defender Roberts, who took to Twitter to vent.

Kane did manage to score twice in Tottenham’s recent win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, his biggest goals on the European stage to date.

Later in the competition he will have an opportunity to down Real Madrid. If he scores past them then it will become a lot harder to downplay his achievements.

Kane has won the Premier League golden boot two years in a row, and has begun to develop into a regular scorer for England.

While haunted by his failure to produce at Euro 2016, Kane will have another opportunity to deliver for his country next summer at the 2018 World Cup.
