Tottenham Hotspur may offload Dele Alli in January, meaning a new attack-minded midfielder could be on Jose Mourinho’s radar.

Alli just hasn’t convinced Mourinho so far, so don’t be surprised to see him leave and a replacement come in during the January window.

An interesting rumour emerged on Monday, as Calciomercato reported that Spurs may be willing to pay €35million (£32million) to bring Christian Eriksen back to the club.

They appear to be sourcing from reports in Spain, which are rather unreliable, and Tottenham legend Graham Roberts certainly isn’t buying it.

Roberts took to Twitter to suggest there would be no point in paying almost double what Spurs sold Eriksen for a year ago, which certainly doesn’t seem like something Daniel Levy would support.

Roberts added that whilst he still thinks Eriksen is a good player, he feels the Dane would have to show much better attitude than he did towards the end of his Spurs career in order to be accepted again at Tottenham.

We simply can’t see this one happening. Eriksen left Spurs for a new challenge at the start of 2020, and Tottenham would be mad to bring him back after such a dismal time in Italy.

The 28-year-old looks to be past his best already, and Spurs shouldn’t be trying to resurrect a player who pushed to leave the club not even 12 months ago.
