Tottenham legend Gareth Bale admitted that he used to idolise Arsenal duo Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp, when speaking during an appearance on BT Sport’s ‘What I Wore’ series.

The Welshman enjoyed a wonderfully successful spell with Spurs from a personal perspective at least, racking up 56 goals and 58 assists in 203 appearances in all competitions for the north London outfit.

He left Tottenham for Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, for a then world record fee of £85.3 million, and although he has proven to be a divisive figure at the Santiago Bernabeu, he has still managed to chalk up 102 goals and 63 assists for the Spanish giants.

Bale is still a popular figure amongst Spurs fans, however.

That popularity might be put to the test, though, after the Wales international admitted that he idolised two Arsenal stars when he was younger, when speaking during an appearance on BT Sport’s ‘What I Wore’ series:

“I used to watch Arsenal a lot and I really enjoyed watching people like (Thierry) Henry. I used to like watching Dennis Bergkamp as well. They had a great team – Tottenham fans won’t be happy.”

Bale is currently facing an uncertain future with Madrid, and could return to Tottenham, according to a report from Spanish media outlet OK Diario.

Whether Spurs would be able to afford the Welshman, however, is highly doubtful.
